Former Epping town mayor Janet Hedges was presented with a bouquet of flowers to mark the end of her 12 years as a town councillor at last night’s Council meeting.

During her time on the council Mrs Hedges was a member of the Planning Committee and represented the Council on various organisations including the Theydon Trust and the Epping-Eppingen Twinning Association. Mrs Hedges served as town Mayor in 2009.

Mayor Barbara Scruton, who presented Mrs Hedges with the flowers and a card at the end of her last council meeting last night (Tuesday), said: “Thank you for everything you have done. "I know you have become a great friend to me since I joined the Council and I will miss you.”

Mrs Hedges has become well known for making a special iced wedding-style cake bearing the town council crest to mark the appointment of the new town mayor at the annual council meeting.
