Councillor Ken Avey passes away, 25th June 2014

It is with deep regret that the Town Council has learned that Cllr Ken Avey has passed away this morning.

Ken became a member of the Town Council in 2003 and was the only person since the Town Council was created in 1973 to have held the office of Town Mayor twice, in 2004 and 2011. He was also a member of the District Council, being elected for Hemnall Ward in 2011.

Ken was passionate about Epping and was dedicated to protecting the character of the Town. He was well known for his forthright views, particularly about planning and was never afriad to tackle the difficult issues head on. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

The flags at Epping Hall will be flown at half-mast on 26th June as a mark of respect for Ken.
